I met X at the launderette; he asked me for a cigarette, and I gave him one. He said he was a photographer, scouting people on the .streets to take their pictures. He said he didn’t live in a house but went from couch to couch. Then he took his shirt off and changed in front of me.
We stepped outside to smoke. He asked if he could come back to see my boat. I said, why not. As we were walking there, he asked me if I live with my boyfriend. I said I did, and then he came up with some excuse that he had to go.
His jacket was wet as he wore it straight out of the washing machine, and we just stood on the side of the street talking. I said I didn’t see him in that way. He made me more upset with every sentence that came out of his mouth, but I kept thinking that I did take a very good picture of him, and that he is just another man and it’s just going to be fine.
Shot on Nokia 6300, released in early 2007. Picture taken by Angel Basin in June 2025.
